YKesha Lindsey is a New Jersey Licensed Social Worker with a Masters Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. YKesha supports teens and young adults finding their way through difficult life transitions, gaining insight into the burdens they have had to carry along the way, and embracing who they have become.

Sometimes we have to grow up before we are ready. Maybe you had to be the strong one, you took care of others, or you might have even had to take care of your own parent or siblings while you were still a child or teenager yourself. Experiencing so much on your own, and alone, it just becomes second nature. You are independent because you had to be that way and now you don’t know any other way of existing. Your strength and independence got you through school, finding a job, perhaps even parenting on your own. Yet there are times when you need to fall apart or do fall apart and there is nobody that can offer you stability in those moments. Relationships don’t seem to work out and people disappoint you. Perhaps you have struggled to find healthy ways of coping, and have had to learn to survive and navigate life without much support. The stress keeps building and you are exhausted from figuring it all out by yourself.

Therapy can be a stabilizing and supportive experience. YKesha offers compassion, validation, and best of all – you can just show up as yourself! She understands that growing, changing, and learning can be a lonely experience for many of us. YKesha views therapy as a way for people to strike a balance between resilience and vulnerability, and that they may come to know and appreciate vulnerability as an inner strength. Clients that work with Ykesha will experience her steady and dependable energy. She will cheer you on and nudge you in the places that you want to grow.

Through her work in the mental health field, YKesha has worked with diverse populations of people that have experienced addiction, trauma, and adversity throughout their lives. Drawing from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, she helps her clients find pathways to a more balanced and harmonious life. YKesha is also committed to helping families through conflict and move from surviving to thriving. She is especially passionate about working with clients that are recovering from substance use disorders.

When she is not in the office, YKesha’s personal interests include music appreciation, traveling, New York City, Spiritual Development and spending time with friends and loved ones.
