Carly Devenny is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of New Jersey working under supervision towards clinical licensure. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University and has a wide range of experience supporting individuals and families through behavioral and emotional challenges as well as difficult life transitions.
Carly enjoys working with clients from adolescence through adulthood who might be feeling unfulfilled, struggling with self-worth, and experiencing a lack of fulfillment. She particularly enjoys working with clients who may identify as: “empaths”, “people pleasers” or “perfectionists”. Carly understands the unique struggle these clients may encounter in relationships with others, often taking on emotional support, caretaking, and helping roles, all while feeling unseen or unsupported themselves.
Carly encourages her clients to embrace the journey of self-discovery, while providing a comfortable and non-judgmental environment for growth. As a guide on the therapeutic journey, Carly invests in celebrating her client’s strengths, accomplishments and victories, alongside offering effective support through difficult times. Carly also specializes in working with adolescents and adults who may be experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm and trauma.
In her sessions, Carly welcomes her clients to feel seen and heard without judgment. As a therapist, she values evidence-based treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-based therapies, and the Nurtured Heart Approach while providing support and guidance to her clients. Carly provides a safe therapeutic space that invites and encourages courage, vulnerability, healing and growth.
Outside of the office, some of Carly’s own self-care practices include yoga, going to the beach, reading, journaling and spending time with friends and family!
