Karen Simon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience in various clinical settings. A seasoned therapist, Karen uses a holistic, integrative approach that embodies the mind-body-spirit connection and supports clients in reclaiming their self-worth, developing self-compassion, and living authentically. Her training in Reiki deepens her ability to promote stress reduction and relaxation among all those who step into her office.
Karen specializes in working with women, men and couples, those who struggle with codependency, anxiety, and trauma. Her trainings in trauma-focused modalities such as EMDR and IFS provide her with a framework for healing deeper parts of self. She also has an interest in helping clients with a variety of health concerns, relationship challenges, body-image concerns, and life transitions such as becoming a parent, divorce, grieving the empty nest, menopause and aging.
She enjoys supporting helping professionals, parents, teachers and caregivers learn how to carve out time for self-care. As she shares with her caregiving clients and parents, these roles can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but can also take a toll on one’s mind and body and ultimately lead to burnout. As therapist, parent, and daughter of aging parents herself, Karen relates on a personal level, as she supports her clients in learning how to understand and address the difficult thoughts and emotions that sometimes arise.
Clients describe Karen as warm, accepting, kind, grounding, and empowering. She brings her whole self and presence into the sacred space she co-creates with clients. She believes in finding silver linings in the clouds, in gifts that come from unexpected places, reframing mistakes as how we learn life lessons, and that our answers come from within.
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
– Buddha
Outside of her counseling practice, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two highly spirited children, exploring nature, taking bike rides, swimming, and searching for treasures. Whenever possible, she finds moments for stillness, yoga, and writing poetry and prose about various topics, including mindfulness in nature.
