Eye-Movement Desensitization &
Reprocessing Therapy
So here you go again. . . starting therapy another time. You wrestle with difficult emotions, like rage, chronic anxiety, loneliness, or depression. Perhaps you find yourself repeating the same patterns in your relationships, or you struggle with relationships all together. You’ve tried talk therapy before and attempted to use cognitive behavioral interventions, yoga, meditation, and even considered or are taking medication. Despite some of this being helpful (or none of it), there are things blocking you from moving forward. There is a heaviness in your heart and a frustration that goes along with it. You hold negative beliefs about yourself like: I’m not worthy. I’m a failure. I’m unlovable. I will never feel safe. You may even be experiencing physical and medical problems like a weak immune system or an autoimmunse disorder, poor sleep, headaches, or chronic pain.
You wonder if there is hope. We want you to know that there is!
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a powerful and cutting edge treatment that enables people to heal from the emotional distress of painful life experiences and trauma. A breakthrough approach that has been extensively researched and used by clinicians for over 20 years, EMDR Therapy can bring quick and lasting relief to those suffering from emotional distress.
EMDR Therapy accesses the brain’s natural tendency to heal by stimulating both sides of the brain through the use of eye movements, taps, or sounds. The structured protocol of EMDR helps the client navigate through negative beliefs about him or herself and the thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations associated with past negative life events or traumatic incidents. The result is relief of symptoms in the present and the installation of more adaptive beliefs for dealing with issues in the future.
Initially known as a treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, EMDR Therapy is now widely accepted as an effective treatment for a multitude of psychological issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, issues from childhood, fears/phobias, feelings of powerlessness or lack of control, and more!
Mindful Soul proudly uses this cutting edge technique in our work with our clients. We encourage anyone working with an EMDR Therapist to confirm that their therapist completed training through the EMDR Institute. We have several staff members trained in EMDR.
