Jillian Markowitz is a Licensed Social Worker who earned her Master’s degree from New York University. She brings a strong background in trauma recovery, addiction treatment, and co-occurring disorders to her work, with clinical experience in community clinics, outpatient programs, and intensive recovery settings. Jillian is certified in Integrated Mental Health Addictions Treatment Training (IMHATT) and has worked with diverse populations navigating complex trauma, anxiety, codependency, and recovery.

Jillian works best with clients who are self-aware, insightful, and reflective, yet still find themselves feeling stuck or disconnected. Many of her clients are deep thinkers, perfectionists, highly sensitive people, or creatives who have spent years understanding their patterns but still struggle to feel better. They have read the books, done the journaling, and identified the triggers, but something still feels missing. Jillian understands this well: the missing link is often emotional attunement and learning to feel safe in your body, trust your inner experience, and offer yourself the same compassion you so easily extend to others.

In her therapy room, Jillian offers a warm, validating, and deeply grounded presence. Her work is relational and trauma-informed, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), DBT skills, and somatic practices to help clients regulate their nervous systems and reconnect with their inner wisdom. She emphasizes not just gaining insight, but experiencing integration and building a felt sense of safety, empowerment, and worthiness. And because humor is one of her favorite tools, clients can expect therapy with Jillian to hold as much space for laughter as for tears.

She is particularly experienced in supporting clients through depression, anxiety, PTSD, C-PTSD, grief and loss, body-image concerns, addictions and substance use disorders, and relational challenges. Jillian has a special passion for working with LGBTQIA+ clients, individuals living with chronic illness or chronic pain, and neurodivergent clients. Her earlier work in domestic violence advocacy and in addiction recovery programs gave her a deep appreciation for resilience, agency, and the power of reclaiming one’s sense of self.

Clients describe Jillian as compassionate, insightful, and refreshingly real. She believes that therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy to be transformative – it can also be creative, weird, and even joyful.

“Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.”  – Carol Burnett

Outside of her practice, Jillian lives in South Jersey with her husband and their beloved tortoiseshell cat. She loves making art, watching spooky movies, and bouldering – albeit, as she admits, not very well.
