FAQs about Telehealth at Mindful Soul
In response to our current state of emergency due to COVID-19, Mindful Soul is taking therapy online! We know our clients have a lot of questions, so we put together this helpful FAQ to answer them.
How Does Telehealth Work?
We are currently using a platform called Doxy.me, which allows you to see your therapist from anywhere- your laptop, phone browser, or other device. All you have to do is click on their personalized room link to join them for your video call.
Here is a little video about Doxy.me:
How Will I Get My Therapist’s Room Link for Our Session?
Our therapists are busy getting in touch with each of their clients. Your therapist will reach out and send you their room link via email.
What If I Haven’t Heard From My Therapist?
Sorry about that! It has been a little crazy around here! First, check your spam to make sure their email did not go to your spam file. If it is not there and you haven’t had any contact with our office, please email our Client Care Coordinators at [email protected]. You can also email your therapist directly by using their first name @mindfulsoulwellbeing.com. We will make sure to get that link over to you as quickly as possible!
Is this Private and Secure?
Yes! According to doxy.me, their data is encrypted, your sessions are anonymous, and none of your information is stored. Doxy.me adheres to HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR data privacy requirements.
Do I need to sign up for an account?
Nope! Per Doxy.me: You do not need to sign up for an account to see your therapist. And you do not need to download any software. Just use a browser (any browser) on a computer or phone or tablet with a camera and microphone. You then simply go to your therapist’s url (doxy.me/YourTherapist’sName) which they’ve emailed you. Next you check in and wait for your therapist to start the video call when they are ready.
Is this free? What is the cost?
Doxy.me is free to use. There is no additional cost. The cost of the appointment is the same as your regular session.
How do I check in for my session?
How do I get rid of an echo?
The following should be done by you and your therapist: 1. Use headphones 2. Reduce the volume of speakers 3. Move the microphone away from the speakers
How can I improve video quality?
- Restart your computer: restart your computer before your first call. 2. Wifi: be close to your wifi router, make sure no other parties on the network are using up the bandwidth, and you don’t have a lot of browser windows open. 3. CPU/GPU usage: ensure no high intensity programs are running on the computer.
How do I pay for my Therapy Session?
The majority of our clients already have a credit card stored on file. If you do not, your therapist can gather that information from you during your session and run payment.
Will Insurance Cover This?
Most major insurance companies are waiving barriers to telemedicine at this time so we do not anticipate any issues at this time.
