Elizabeth Hunter is currently pursuing her Master’s in Social Work with a Certificate in Interpersonal Violence and Trauma at Rutgers University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Stockton University, where she focused on child development and disabilities studies.
Elizabeth brings a strengths-based approach to her sessions, understanding the challenge of shifting perspectives when caught in the depths of one’s thoughts. She partners with her clients to be collaborative and client-centered, empowering them to achieve their goals and regain control over their lives. Her passion lies in supporting those who often feel overlooked or unsupported—the individuals who give everything to others but find themselves without someone to lean on. Elizabeth excels at providing the extra care and guidance needed to help these clients restore their balance.
With a particular interest in working with adolescents and children, the LGBTQIA+ community, those struggling with disordered eating, and individuals who have experienced high levels of stress either recently or in the past, Elizabeth brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion. She has worked extensively with children and understands the complexities of anxiety and depression. During her internship as a school social worker, Elizabeth provided counseling to children aged 10-12, supporting a diverse group of students, including those with behavioral challenges, neurodiverse students, and individuals who had experienced trauma. This hands-on experience has deepened her understanding and equipped her with the skills to support young clients facing complex issues.
Elizabeth is dedicated to helping clients who struggle with self-criticism and the burden of internal and external pressures. She empathizes with the challenges of living up to expectations and is committed to meeting her clients exactly where they are. Recognizing that mindfulness can be difficult to prioritize, Elizabeth is passionate about integrating practical mindfulness strategies into daily routines, helping clients cultivate a kinder, more compassionate relationship with themselves.
Elizabeth believes that trust and communication form the cornerstone of any healthy therapeutic relationship. She empowers her clients to lead the conversation, ensuring they feel safe to set and maintain their boundaries throughout therapy sessions.
In her free time, Elizabeth loves spending time with her friends, family, and many pets. She’s an avid reader, particularly of fantasy novels, and enjoys unwinding with her favorite TV shows—One Tree Hill, Station 19, and Heartstopper are currently at the top of her list.
