Nicole Valles, MA, LPC, NCC
Clinical Team Lead
Nicole is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor providing counseling for women at the Mindful Soul Center for Wellbeing in southern New Jersey. Nicole’s area of focus is helping women work through difficult transitional moments such as divorce, relationship trauma, and affair recovery by getting to the root of the pain that is blocking them from their true authentic self and accessing their inner strength. As part of this process, she helps women understand and manage their emotions instead of being afraid to experience them. Her clients are then able to sort through the life experiences that have impacted them in a negative way.
A firm believer that we all have an inner compass readily available to help us at any moment, Nicole supports women in finding the courage to go inside and embrace their own strength and abilities. Sometimes stress, anxiety, depression, grief, regret, anger and resentment prevent us from seeing that compass clearly. Nicole introduces her clients to new tools and skills to help them tolerate and manage unpleasant emotions so that they can move forward with clarity and confidence.
“Being ourselves means sometimes having to find the courage to stand alone.”
Nicole draws upon several evidence-based practices including EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Dialectical Behavior Therapy and IFS strategies. She has participated in several comprehensive trainings, including an extensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training through Marsha Linehan’s Behavioral Tech, LLC and the noteworthy Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program through the Jefferson Mindfulness Institute. Nicole utilizes EMDR Therapy, a powerful and cutting edge approach to treating trauma. This therapeutic approach is an effective way to help women heal from trauma that occurs within their adult relationships as well as heal from past relationships or childhood experiences that interfere with our ability to foster healthy and satisfying relationships in the present. Nicole is currently participating in an Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy certification program facilitated by Dr. Sue Johnson in an effort to further help her clients navigate through emotional disconnection and move into new moments of engagements utilizing attachment theories and strategies.
Described by her clients as a therapist that “gets it,” Nicole is easy to relate to as well as being funny, nonjudgmental, kind, and thoughtful. She has experience working with people and families from all walks of life through a variety of settings such as hospital inpatient units, MICA, partial care/IOP programs, and schools.
Nicole’s passion for working with women going through divorce or having relationship difficulties has led to the creation of her group, Untying the Knot. This group focuses on healing, forgiveness, and moving on to the life that you want.
