Graduate Student Intern
Kirstie is currently a graduate student in Temple University’s Counseling Psychology program, eager to counsel and provide services to those in need under supervision by an LPC. She is focused on providing clients with a hopeful, supportive and validating environment where they can grow and explore their true selves. Kirstie believes in empowering individuals to take charge of their own happiness and to give themselves unconditional love and respect. With that, she encourages clients to embrace their autonomy and ability to create the life they desire.
A passionate musician, Kirstie has extensive experience with the arts and holds a B.S. in Contemporary Music Studies. She enjoys working with creatives of all ages in establishing healthy routines and expectations, learning coping strategies for high stress times/situations, sort through performance anxiety and many other things that come along with being in a creative field. She is also passionate about working with individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery and the unique struggles that are encountered post-op, as well as those dealing with body image issues. Kirstie also has a passion for maternal mental health and is on her way to learning more about the unique circumstances women experience throughout pregnancy and beyond.
Drawing from many theoretical orientations, Kirstie approaches therapy as an individualized practice. She draws from what she feels will work best for the client’s needs and personality, but some of her favorite approaches stem from Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and its cousins, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She also enjoys incorporating a strengths-based approach and mindfulness techniques to help empower clients to take charge of their mental health. In the future, Kirstie will be pursuing a certification in animal assisted therapy as well as certifications in DBT and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
In her free time, Kirstie enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and urban exploration, as well as exploring new music. An avid coffee drinker, she enjoys exploring new coffee shops as well. She currently lives in Philadelphia with her partner and their two pets, a dog and a cat.
Kirstie is currently available for significantly reduced fee appointments in our Audubon office and a limited amount of pro-bono appointments available for pregnant and postpartum clients in our Collingswood office at The Village!
