Kathleen also has experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, and spent her undergraduate internship at the Woman’s, Gender, and Sexuality Center, providing services to the community . Kathleen views advocating as an important aspect of counseling and has advocated for policy change by speaking to elected officials.
Kathleen comes from a background in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and integrates Narrative therapy into sessions. She also has a special interest in supporting clients who may have complex relationships with food and body image, working from a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach. She strives to create a warm, empathic environment, where people feel safe to share what is on their minds. She also understands the importance of empowering clients to advocate for their needs and has a special belief that everyone deserves to be at peace with their mind and body.
Kathleen views the therapeutic relationship as one that must be collaborative. YOU are the expert on your own life and lived experiences. The best way to reach your goals is by working together! As a counselor, Kathleen feels her role is to be a supportive and empathetic teacher, showing you techniques and options to mold your life in a new direction.
Outside of therapy, Kathleen enjoys art, especially painting and pottery. She likes to bake and read. Kathleen loves the beach. She lives in Gloucester County, where she is from.
