Jessica Houghton, MSW, LCSW

Jessica Houghton is a New Jersey Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 13 years of experience working with individuals, children and families. Jessica completed her undergraduate education at Barnard College, and she received her Master of Social Work from Rutgers University in 2009.
Jessica has advanced training in the following areas:
- Karen Kleiman’s Post-Graduate PPD Training for the assessment and treatment of postpartum depression and related disorders.
- Basic Training for EMDR Therapy through The EMDR Institute for treatment of trauma and traumatic or distrubing life events.
Jessica’s clients describe her as practical, knowledgeable, insightful and fun. She takes a pragmatic solution focused approach to therapy, and she believes that the therapeutic relationship sets the stage for healing. Jessica is especially committed to connecting with and supporting women suffering from anxiety, depression, other mood disorders and PTSD. She also enjoys helping couples communicate more effectively and free themselves of damaging resentments and fears. Jessica draws from several therapeutic approaches such as mindfulness skills, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy.
Jessica lives with her spirited little girl in South Jersey. She is a busy single mom that cherishes the rare moment to paint some pottery and enjoy the company of her friends. A lover of travel, Jessica was an English teacher for the Peace Corps in another lifetime which sparked a special place in her heart for central and southeastern Europe. She also speaks fluently in the Slovak language.
