Jennifer Mills, MA, NCC, LAC
Jennifer is a New Jersey Licensed Associate Counselor and National Certified Counselor providing counseling to young girls, tweens, and teens at Mindful Soul Center for Wellbeing. Jennifer earned a Master’s of Arts Degree in Educational Counseling from Rowan University.
Caring, patient, and thoughtful, Jennifer has counseling experience in a school setting with children that have anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty with emotional regulation, maintaining friendships, defiance/opposition, and children of divorce and blended families. She strongly believes that play is a way for children to express their inner feelings, thoughts, and desires. By meeting children in their world, Jennifer fosters a positive and supportive learning environment and draws upon play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness practices.
In order to effectively reach children, Jennifer works collaboratively with parents and families. She has experience working with parents that have children diagnosed with ADHD, show defiance/opposition, learning difficulties, and other behavioral challenges. Jennifer draws from the Nurtured Heart Approach and supports parents in gaining awareness of children’s big emotions, creative ways to improve family communication, and setting healthy boundaries.
Jennifer is passionate about supporting young girls, tweens, and teens in navigating the many exciting, and sometimes challenging, moments of childhood and adolescence. Every young girl has the potential to feel confident and happy about themselves, maintain healthy relationships, and build their resilience. Jennifer runs an 8 week middle school group (ages 11-14), Blossom, that focuses on building confidence, communication skills, healthy coping strategies, and conflict resolution skills. Jennifer believes that every girl is capable of reaching their fullest potential by accepting their uniqueness, strengths, and their true selves in a world that has many standards, pressures, and challenges.
“Knowing that we can be loved exactly as we are gives us all the best opportunity for growing into the healthiest of people.” -Fred Rogers
